Megan FitzMaurice- I/O User/Tester working “down South” this winter (summer)...

The products speaks for themselves but to put into words, THEY ARE AMAZING! It is unbelievably soft, warm, light, smell resistant, tough and yet quite fashionable. I wear the same, paint, wood glue stained, diesel smelling Carhartt overalls everyday but in combo with the Signature hoody with it's flashy plaid lining in the hood ... I still manage to get compliments:) The extra length of the tops (so you can tuck them in and not have them pull out when you are moving around) is an essential detail, yesterday with had wind gusts up to 40 knots I was happy to be in a Io-Bio top, where its never a worry of getting drafts in places you don't want. The sports bra and boy shorts were one of the most pleasant surprises! For someone who thought they had the perfect setup of synthetic briefs and top ... it's welcomed news to find something above and beyond my standard! The waist band on the boys shorts is great, stays in place and the overall design is super functional. Same can be said for the contact top, also the thickness adds a little extra warmth to the core without making it bulky! The Signature hoody is well named as it is a signature piece of my everyday wear here in Antarctica, whether I am in the field or working in the shop. The contact top and tights are great for layering. Despite appearing much thinner and lighter than other merino wool products I will confirm that they are MUCH WARMER and far less bunchy. I feel enough like a marshmallow every time I get dressed to go outside that even just a little less fabric without compromising warmth goes a long way. And lastly, thank goodness that even after not washing my Io-Bio tops or bottoms for longer than I like to mention they don't retain the aroma of weeks of work:) I head out to the deep field in Western Antarctica next week. I will be out there for 2-3 weeks setting up and constructing a new field camp. I am looking forward to being out in the vast white and snow! Looking forward to sleeping in a tent again and feeling very small on such a big continent. First on the pack list, all my Io-Bio stuff! I better run, looks like the wind is letting up and I am going to try and get in a ski before dinner!
